Citywide Cardozo Feeder Pattern January Planning Meeting Recap

On January 24th, DCPS hosted  a citywide meeting for all parents, staff, community members, and other stakeholders on middle school planning in the Cardozo feeder pattern. The meeting was held at Cardozo Education Campus.

During this meeting participants explored current population and enrollment trend data in the Cardozo feeder pattern and discussed the approach to middle school planning and considerations to determine if and when a new middle school is needed in the Cardozo feeder pattern.

My School DC HS Lottery Deadline This Week!

The MSDC high school lottery deadline is this week! Bard DC is hosting one more Open House before this lottery deadline. Join them this Wednesday, January 30th at Francis-Gregory Library (3660 Alabama Ave. SE) from 5:30 – 7:30 PM to take the written assessment and complete in-person interview. Strategic School Planning Advisory Board January 2019 Meeting #3 Recap

The Strategic School Planning Advisory Board (SSPAB) met on January 17, 2019. In this meeting, the school planning team shared the updated planning process and growth plan blueprint as well as Early Childhood Education expansion. Board members shared their feedback on the DCPS decision making process and had discussion about what Early Childhood Expansion looks like in their communities.

Bard DC Location Announcement

The new Bard DC location for SY19-20 is Davis ES in Ward 7. View the Mayor’s press release on the location here and the DCPS community letter below. All current Bard DC MSDC lottery applicants will be notified of this change this week.

Bard DC January Open Houses!

Apply now to Bard DC via the MSDC lottery and attend an Open House for an overview on Bard, short writing assessment, and in-person interview. Community Engagement Process

January Community Meeting
On January 24th, DCPS will host a citywide meeting for all parents, staff, community members, and other stakeholders on middle school planning in the Cardozo feeder pattern.  The meeting details are below:

  • Date: Thursday, January 24, 2019
  • Time: 6-8PM
  • Location: Cardozo EC (1200 Clifton St NW)

Participants can expect to:

  • Explore current population and enrollment trend data in the Cardozo feeder pattern
  • Discuss the approach to middle school planning in the Cardozo feeder pattern
  • Provide feedback to determine if or when a new standalone middle school is needed in the Cardozo feeder pattern

Additional Upcoming Engagements
Over the next few months, DCPS will host additional opportunities for engagement on middle school planning in the Cardozo Feeder Pattern.

Public Engagements
In March and April, DCPS will also host online engagement to gather wider feedback on the draft proposal, as well as conduct targeted engagement with under-represented parent groups to ensure we engage all stakeholders.

On April 25, 2019, DCPS will host an additional citywide meeting to share an updated proposal on criteria to open a new middle school and short-term programmatic enhancements for Cardozo EC.  This meeting will be at Garrison ES from 6-8PM.

School Only Engagements

In February and March, DCPS will host two meetings specifically for parents and staff at Cardozo EC, Cleveland ES, Garrison ES, Ross ES, Seaton ES, and Thomson ES.  These meetings will review and gather feedback on a draft proposal for criteria for opening a new middle school and short-term programmatic enhancements for Cardozo EC.  The details for these meetings are:

  • February 26, 2019, from 6-8PM at Seaton ES
  • March 6, 2019, from 6-8PM at Cleveland ES

The content of these meetings will be the same and participants can attend either meeting.

DCPS esta organizando una reunión publico para el 24 de enero para todos los padres, personal, miembros de la comunidad y otras partes interesadas sobre la planificación de una escuela intermedia en el sistema de transición de Cardozo. Los detalles para la reunión:

  • Fecha: jueves, 24 de enero de 2019
  • Hora: 6-8PM

Los detalles para la reunión:

  • 26 de febrero de 2019 de las 6-8PM en la Escuela Seaton
  • 6 de marzo de 2019 de las 6-8PM en la Escuela Cleveland

Estas dos reuniones para escuelas impactados serán iguales y participantes pueden ir a cualquiera.
